TSoIP (Tone Signalling over IP)

Traditional radio tone data (SelCall/Select/FFSK) systems required 32K of bandwidth for each channel to maintain a tone sequence without any degradation. With the advent of higher compression codec's such as G729 (8K), voice traffic could now be passed over a network with a much lower bandwidth requirement. Unfortunately, as these codec's impair the integrity of the tone sequence, the TSoIP provides the solution by sending an IP packet representation of the tones sequences across the network greatly reducing bandwidth requirements.

The TSoIP leverages off multicast one-to-many, many-to-many, technology enabling a single transmission from a TSoIP to be received at many consoles (ICON /CDi) concurrently, this ability to reach many endpoint locations at the same time enables information to distributed to many physical locations across the network.

TSoIP - Operation

The TSoIP (Tone Signalling over IP) device operates as a an translator between data passed over Radio systems such as Selcall /FFSK/DTMF and GPS and the IP network.

Radio to IP

The TSoIP decodes the tones sequences received from the radio network and creates and IP data message representation of the sequence. These messages can then be received either by a Console ( ICON / CDi ) or by another TSoIP located at a another site across the network to be resent into the Radio network as a tone sequence.

IP to Radio

The TSoIP listens to an multicast group for IP messages sent by a Console System or other TSoIP device and translates them into a tones sequences for transmission into the RF network.

Network

The TSoIP uses IP multicast technology enabling multiple consoles to receive the IP messages concurrently making efficient use of network bandwidth. This also means that a console can send a single message and multiple TSoIP devices can be configured to transmit the tone sequence into the network concurrently providing multisite Vote Group functionality.

Management

The TSoIP device is managed through an authenticated Web Management page, enabling configuration of the device from anywhere on the network.
